1.1 Precious water
(exercises)










1. When the sun is out, it heats the water in the oceans.
2. When the sun heats the water in the oceans, there is vapor.
3. when vapor rises into the air, it forms clouds.
4. When water droplets in clouds get too heavy, it rains.
5. When it rains, the water runs off the ground or into lakes and rivers.




1.2  Space



LIVING ON A SPACE SATATION


1. The astronauts live without daily luxuries such as hot showers.
2. They don´t have much free time.
3. Zero gravity affects their health.
4. If an astronaut doesn´t exercice daily, he won´t be able to walk when he comes back to Earth.
5. Astronauts wash their hair with a rinseless shampoo.
6. The crew eat, play, sleep and take a bath in the middeck.



1.3 Bad habits




Annoying habits


  • messy people 
  • noisy neighbors
  • people who bite their nails
  • screaming babies 
  • people with bad table maners
  • bossy people
  • people who are always late
  • people talking during movies







1.4 Our planet


  • Trees are important because them provide oxygen and homes for animals.
  • We need plants to make medicine.
  • Smoke from factories pollute the air.
  • We need to recycle or else the landfill sites will be full soon.
  • We need to produce more food because the global population increases very quickly.






1.5 Be active





  • Keep following the diet, and you´ll lose weight.
  • A diet full of fried food and sugary drinks will lead you to gain weight.
  • Exercising helps you strengthen your muscles.
  • My legs feel stiff when I go jogging.
  • Doctors say that most women develop a sleep problem at this age.
  • Encourage your children to make nutritious food choices.





1.6 Great animals




  • Giant pandas live in China. they feed on bamboo.
  • In the winter, Siberian Cranes go to Yangtze River. At present, there are only 3200 Siberian Cranes.
  • Leather backs live in oceans. We need  them because they control the number of jellyfish.






1.7 Tech-time



  • Computers can store  information on their hard drives.
  • It´s very difficult to explore the sea bottom without  appropiate equipment.
  • Computers cann´t make decisions as people can.
  • Only people with special training can defuse bombs.
  • If police officers patrol the streets regulary, there will be less crime.





1.8 Weather patterns


Harry:  What´s the weather going to be like tomorrow, Jane?

Jane:  The forecast says it is going to be hot and sunny. Are you doing anything?

Harry:  Yeah! I am going hiking with Fred and Paul. I just hate hiking  in the rain.

Jane:  You should be OK tomorrow then.

Harry:  Yeah. How about you? Wath are you doing?

Jane:  I am meeting Debra in the aftrenoon. We want to buy some CDs.

Harry:  Have fun, then.




1.9 Health

If you burn your hand on something hot,.....


  • put it under cool water for several minutes.
  • take a painkiller.
  • rub the burn with bruise cream.
  • use ice to help with pain.
  • remove any clothing or jewelry that is near the burn.
  • cover it with a bandage.



1.10 What does your future hold?


  • study at a university
  • own my own house
  • drive an electric car 
  • have a steady day job
  • experience various cultures 
  • live on a ranch 
  • volunteer for carities
  • live in a big city
I tink I´ll study at a university.
I don´t think I´ll live in a big city.
